Leadership When It Really Counts
The American Red Cross has been a leader in disaster response and preparedness education in New Hampshire since 1917. In 2004, the Concord Area Chapter moved into new a facility on Maitland Street in Concord, which provided improved office and classroom space, and a practice lab for the Licensed Nurse Assistant students.
In 2007, two chapters, the Greater White Mountain Chapter and the Concord Area Chapter, merged to become the Granite Chapter. In 2009, the Mount Washington Valley Chapter joined the Granite Chapter. These mergers leveraged resources from each unit, streamlined operating procedures and increased program efficiencies. As a result, the Red Cross has expanded its programs and services in the Lakes Region and North Country.
In a nationwide reorganization in 2007, the American Red Cross appointed the Granite Chapter to assume regional responsibilities for the Red Cross in New Hampshire. In this role as NH Regional Chapter, staff coordinate with staff in the other NH chapters and advocate for the Red Cross throughout the State.
The American Red Cross is available to help all NH residents. From remote rural communities, to small towns, to large cities, Red Cross volunteers and staff are available 24/7 to help individuals, families and communities prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and other life-threatening emergencies.
